When it's time to change...

Last week we decided to flip-flop our upstairs guest
bedroom downstairs and our office upstairs.
Above is the poor before photo of my downstairs
office, before the move.
This is a real life, no staging photo!
The upstairs office space!

The upstairs office is a blank slate!
It still has the builders paint...
so it's been off to the library and scanning
the Internet for inspiration!
Here are some of the things that have caught my eye..

I love the contrast of the white and green, however
I can't bear to paint my beautiful desk.
Love the soft colors in this photo.
Of course my desk would never look this clean!
Crisp and clean!
I am linking to Metamorphosis Monday
at Between Naps on the Porch.
I would love your thoughts!
What colors help you stay focused paying bills,
writing a letter, creating your blog!

I have found that if I leave the bills laying on my desk long enough Josh will eat them, so the color really doesn't matter. I prefer darker colors. I know you will chose something wonderful.

I really love the whole look of the first photo. The desk, the chair and the artwork all inspire me. You wouldn't have to paint your desk, but you could still use this color scheme! Can't wait to see the finished room once you are done!

I really like that green with the white desk but don't blame you for not wanting to paint that gorgeous desk!!! Bill paying should be done in the dark on a plywood box...don't mess up perfection with bills!!!

Dee Dee,
What fun! Great inspirational pictures! I love the first and the last photo. Are you going to add any of your art work? Can't wait to see what you decide to do!

I really like your unique desk and the way you have positioned it in the room.
NO!! Don't paint your desk. Use it as your center piece like they did in the second picture. You have a great start. Keep going.

Is there a story behind your beautiful desk?

Dee Dee, first I must say how sorry I am to hear of your loss, my heart is with you!

I absolutely adore the white and green office! It's so fresh, clean, and inviting, I just love the look! Have so much fun switching the rooms and doing some redecorating!!

Hello my friend! It was so nice for you to be the first to show up when I finally posted something today. I have felt so removed from blogland, but sometimes you just have to let some things go.

First, I am so sorry about your pup. Our dog is 14 and I was so afraid something would happen to her while I was gone. We had to put our last dog down at 13 and it was so painful that we went several years without a dog. I now know that when something happens to my pup...I'll have a new baby puppy to love right away. They are such a big part of the family and I'm sure your family is very sad right now.

I was glad you weren't going to paint the desk. When I saw the first inspiration photo (which I do love) I thought...don't paint it! My house is some form of dark taupe in almost every room. My "office" which was my daughters room is teal (her choice) but will probably be painted one of these days. I've just always loved taupe and white, so I rarely change.

I read back on several of your posts...love that strawberry tablescape!

The items around your computer look oh too familiar - calculator, notebooks, bills. I will be anxious to see how you organize all of those. Good luck and have fun! Does the little critter in the aquarium go upstairs along with the office?

Hello Deedee~ I love the first inspiration photo, my guess is it's because of the...bright, crisp, organized, overall setting.
I agree with not painting your table. I'm still a fan of adding the natural rich tones of real woods into any design style. It keeps us from getting swept up in the black or white spray paint look. Which is lovely...in moderation.

I'm so sorry about your sweet Abby Lynn. Our fur babies are family to us and their loss is difficult. I hope you and your family will find comfort in the precious memories she left behind.

Sweet wishes,
Sara

I agree no way on painting the desk. I just polished my wood desk with that Orange Glo hardwood floor cleaner & it looks awesome. (I also cleaned the hardwood floors). Maybe a cool white chair with that desk? K

You can't paint that desk! It's beautiful. Believe me I know the challenges of Office Space. Working next to a furnace on a camp table can really make you appreciate a lot. no kidding. I've just started decorating my new office space, but am really trying to make it "mine". Those pieces I love are going into it.
